RONALD H. HOEVET

Ron Hoevet is a shareholder and founding member of the firm of Hoevet, Boise & Olson, P.C. For 30 years, Ron has practiced in all areas of criminal defense and has litigated hundreds of criminal and civil cases throughout the Oregon in both state and federal court. His litigation experience includes economic, environmental and tax crimes, customs law violations, bank fraud, civil and criminal RICO claims, medicare violations, drug offenses and forfeitures, and violent crimes including assault and homicide. He has also defended criminal cases in federal court in Washington, Idaho and Montana. Ron has an AV rating with Martindale Hubbell, which is the highest rating for both legal ability and professional standing in the legal community. He is listed in Best Lawyers of America.

Ron was born in San Mateo, California, but grew up in Portland. He attended Laurelhurst Grade School and graduated from Grant High School in 1964. Ron received a B.A. in economics in 1968 from Willamette University. He obtained his law degree from Duke University, graduating cum laude in 1975.

Ron was admitted to the Oregon State Bar in 1975. He served as a trial attorney in the Criminal Section of the Tax Division for the U.S. Department of Justice from 1975 to 1977, and was an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the District of Oregon from 1977 to 1981. In 1981, he left the U.S. Attorney's office to go into private practice focusing on criminal defense.

In addition to the Oregon State Bar, Ron was admitted to the U.S. District Court for the District of Oregon in 1976, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals in 1978, and the U.S. Tax Court in 1981. Ron is also a member of the Multnomah Bar Association; Oregon State Bar (Executive Committee, Criminal Law Section, 1992-1996); Oregon Criminal Defense Lawyers Association; National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers; and Oregon Trial Lawyers Association.
